Introduction:

Set inland in southern Devon, Dartmoor is 368 square miles of deep bogs, dramatic hills capped by weirdly shaped granite outcrops, or tors, and windswept, gorse-clad moors.
Straddling western Somerset and northern Devon, Exmoor’s strikingly varied landscape is packed into 267 square miles, a diverse area of forested glens and open moorland. To protect the moors, both were designated national parks in the 1950’s.
